Overview:

Last.fm is an online music service that recommends songs based on the user’s favorite music. Users can import their music library, designate favorite songs, and create playlists. Last.fm keeps track of which songs the user plays most and uses that information to make recommendations based on other users’ preferences. A profile page lists the user’s music library and playlists, as well as a personal hits chart showing the user’s most-played songs, and any music events the user will attend. The profile page can be public or can use a variety of privacy settings. There is also a journaling component available. Users can link to friends who can then leave comments on their profile page.
